2024

At the October 10, 2023 meeting, the Town Board approved the 2024 Preliminary Budget and scheduled a Public Hearing on the budget for Monday, October 30, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. The Town Board also passed a Local Law Overriding the 2024 Tax Cap in case the Budget increased by more than 2%.

With expenses such as liability insurance, health insurance, and state retirement benefits increasing at inflationary rates and with certain revenues, in particular mortgage tax revenue, expected to decline next year, keeping the final budget under the Tax Cap will be a challenge.

Please review the 2024 Preliminary Budget and if you have any questions or suggested budget adjustments, please attend the Public Hearing on October 30. The Town Board welcomes your input.

2023

Budget Workshops concluded by the Town Board resulted in a 2023 Preliminary Budget, public hearing, November 2. It was preceded by a public hearing to consider the adoption of Local Law No. 3 of 2022 to override the tax levy limit established in NY General Municipal Law § 3-c.

The override is necessitated by increases in fire and ambulance service budgets—over which the town has no control but whose services are vital to the safety and wellbeing of our community. Note: the Preliminary Budget as proposed has a one cent decrease in the town tax rate over 2022 rate. The Preliminary Budget was approved by the Town Board and became final on November 2, 2022.

2022

Following the October 28 public hearing on the Town budget, the 2022 budget was unanimously passed by the Town Board with a six-cent decrease in the 2022 tax rate.
