Budget

2023

The Town Tentative Budget represents a compilation of each town department's proposed expenditures and is a "starting point" for the Town Board at its Budget Workshops. It is the job of the Town Board to hold the line on town spending without sacrificing the services that the Town provides. At the completion of the Budget Workshop process, the Tentative Budget is replaced with a Preliminary Budget for the public's consideration. The tax rate reflected in the Tentative Budget is rarely the final tax rate contained in the Preliminary Budget.

Budget Workshops recently concluded by the Town Board have resulted in a 2023 Preliminary Budget, public hearing, November 2, 6:40 p.m. It will be preceded at 6:35 p.m. by a public hearing to consider the adoption of Local Law No. 3 of 2022 to override the tax levy limit established in NY General Municipal Law § 3-c.

The override is necessitated by increases in fire and ambulance service budgets—over which the town has no control but whose services are vital to the safety and wellbeing of our community. Please note: the Preliminary Budget as proposed has a one cent decrease in the town tax rate over 2022 rate.
